We talked about ways to upload your lists. The most powerful one, especially when you have a large group of contacts, is the File Upload option. So, I’m going to explain more about the .csv files you’ll be using to upload your information through the File Upload and how to safely save them from your spreadsheet program.
A .csv, or CSV, looks just like a typical spreadsheet. You can open a CSV in Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets and a variety of other spreadsheet programs. A CSV is a powerful way to upload information in a fast, efficient way. To do this, it saves the spreadsheet with a .csv extension instead of an .xls or .xlsx.
A CSV is a file with a whole set of data separated by commas (Comma Delimited) without any saved formulas or formatting. A typical spreadsheet file extension like, .xls will allow you to save formatting and formulas, where a CSV only saves the raw data. It lets you save your information in a table format with each piece of data, or record, still able to be uploaded in a dependable way through Wire.
If you build a quality list with all of your data separated in a consistent way, you will be able to upload your CSV lists to Wire in a very convenient way. After uploading each piece of data, or record, should show up correctly for the contact it is connected to.
When you click the “Save As” option in any spreadsheet program you can name your document and choose to save it in a variety of formats.
The .csv is a file extension that states what kind of file it is. By saving it as DocumentName.csv you are saving the right type of file to be uploaded with the ‘File Upload’ option in RenMind Wire.
